About the Author
Nancy with Dr. Prem Chauhan, chair, Literature Committee, Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead, New York She is a graduate of Tufts University with a B.A. in English, an M.A.T. from Brown University and holds an honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Mount Vernon College. In 2005 she was a William Randolph Hearst Fellow at the American Antiquarian Society. Other honors include three Telly Awards from the cable television industry for her documentary work, the Washington Irving Award from the Westchester Library Association, the 1992 Author of the Year Award from the American Society of Authors and Journalists, a Time Inc. scholarship from the Bread Loaf Writers Conference and a fellowship from the MacDowell Colony. Under the byline Nancy Rubin, the best-selling biography American Empress: The Life and Times of Marjorie Merriweather Post recently appeared in paperback. Previous titles under that same byline include Isabella of Castile: The First Renaissance Queen ; The Mother Mirror: How A Generation of Women Is Changing Motherhood in America and The New Suburban Woman: Beyond Myth and Motherhood. A seasoned public speaker, Nancy has appeared on behalf of her books ont he A & E series " Mansions, Monuments and Masterpieces" and " America's Castes", on Oprah, CBs Morning News and National Public Radio. As a journalist she has contributed to the New York Times , The Los Angeles Times, The Stamford Advocate, Greenwich Time , Business Week's Careers , Parents , Ladies' Home Journal and Travel and Leisure. Nancy was born in Boston and began writing as a child. After obtaining a graduate school degree she married, worked as a playwright-director off-off Broadway and began raising her family. Today she lives in Manhattan with her husband.
